Barranquilla is known for being a sports-loving city. The city has a strong tradition in several sports, including baseball, football, and boxing. Football is the most popular sport in Barranquilla, and the city is home to Junior de Barranquilla, one of the most successful football clubs in Colombia, having won several national and international titles. The city´s warmth and great enthusiasm for the national selection has been recognized to the point that its Metropolitan Stadium is called “The House of the National Selection”, being the field where most of its matches are played. Baseball is also a popular sport in Barranquilla, and the city has hosted several international tournaments. Other popular sports in Barranquilla include basketball, volleyball, and cycling.
